I absolutely loved this recipe! A tasty treat, but not so overwhelmingly sweet that you can’t have a second slice. It hits the mark that all deserts should aspire too: it goes perfectly with a piping hot mug of tea! Just mix some cooked oatmeal with your basic cake ingredients, and top it off with a wonderful icing to give that finishing touch with a delightful crunch. We substituted almonds for mixed nuts in the icing, and I’d be willing to bet that just about any nuts would work well.
